A 17-year-old boy was detained by a Special Task Force team following a targeted operation on Strand Road, where multiple firearms and ammunition were recovered from his possession. Acting on specific intelligence, the STF intercepted the accused around 12:15 pm near a Pay and Use toilet facility on the eastern footpath, leading to a significant seizure of illegal arms.
During the search, officials recovered three country-made single-shot firearms, two 7 mm pistols along with four magazines, 18 rounds of 8 mm cartridges, and 22 rounds of 7.65 mm cartridges. The accused, identified as Md. Yusuf from Nalanda district in Bihar, reportedly failed to provide any satisfactory explanation for carrying such a cache of weapons, prompting immediate action by the authorities.
The seized arms and ammunition were taken into custody, and the accused was formally arrested at around 3:30 pm. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused is scheduled to be produced before the court as the investigation proceeds.
